It’s no secret that I’m a fan of the Renegade Craft Fair and Renegade Handmade, their brick and mortar store located in Wicker Park. So when they approached me to participate in a contest they were hosting, I immediately jumped on board! How could I not??
So the contest involved their beloved logo, the Owl. They asked a handful of artists around the craft community that practice in different types of media to take their Owl logo and interpret it in ANY way we wanted. They would conduct a contest the weekend of the Chicago Renegade fair and whoever won the contest would have their booth fee into the fair waived (which was huge!!).
So I got to thinking and since it I mostly practice hand-embroidery, I decided to take their logo and embroider the Owl. I changed up the colors to make it more fun and decided to split the owl into several different pieces.
And the winner was….(drum roll please)………not me, BUT it was such an amazing event. I had so many people come to my booth and tell me that they just voted for me, which was awesome! And lucky you, it’s still showcased in the Renegade Handmade store through October 11th. So go down to the store and check out my installation in person! If you can’t make it, you can see the entries, including mine online.
